Back to Ortigia for another very special screening on September 26 from 12 pm. Among the audience will be the Minister of Agriculture.

A very dense September for The Interview at Sea! After starting with the special screening as part of the Persona Lavoro Ambiente collateral award at the Venice Lido on the occasion of the Venice International Film Festival (articles here) and after the participation in the Caorle Film Festival last week (an initial article here and the event report and final report soon), we continue with a second special screening.

In fact, this is an incredible and beautiful return to Ortigia (after the magical participation in July at the Ortigia Film Festival, articles here). This time we return to Sicily and Syracuse to kick off a special kind of screening aimed at raising awareness among institutions of the issues addressed by our film. The setting is that of the most important, prestigious and incisive event on fishing issues in the Mediterranean: Divinazione Expo (agriculture and fishing), which takes place during the G7.

The Interview at Sea will be screened in a room specifically set up in the Stand of the Department of Mediterranean Fishing (Foro Vittorio Emanuele II Ortigia – Syracuse).

The event will be attended by the two top Italian and Sicilian political figures with expertise on fishing labor issues: Francesco Lollobrigida, Minister of Agriculture, Food Sovereignty and Forestry, and Salvatore Barbagallo, Sicily Region’s Councillor for Agriculture, Rural Development and Mediterranean Fishing.

The film will be presented by sociologist and director Ludovico Ferro, who will also participate in the subsequent panel discussion with various institutional, representative and business leaders from the sector (details in the general program to be downloaded here and in the poster beside).

The conclusions will be entrusted to the film’s producer as well as Fai Cisl general secretary Onofrio Rota.

This will therefore be an exceptional opportunity to do what The Interview at Sea sets out to do: using the language of film to bring the results of years of research and listening to the voice of fishers not only to insiders, but also to politicians and above all to Italian and global public opinion. Yes, global, because October will also be the month of a new participation in an international festival. And here we will travel to another continent (soon to be announced officially here in the news section).
