Chronicle of the Persona, Lavoro, Ambiente collateral award event at the Venice Film Festival

In the previous article, in which we announced the very first special screening of The Interview at Sea outside of a festival selection, we also explained how and why The Interview at Sea made it to the 81. Venice International Film Festival. We restate that the participation comes as a special screening in a side event, but an official one, of the world’s most prestigious film festival.

During the first hour of the event, conducted by the creator of the award, (as well as the author of The Interview at Sea) Ludovico Ferro, the award ceremony took place with the explanation of the structure and functioning of the selection, the presentation of the juries and the presentation of the awards to the film delegations, with the related reading of the motivations.

On the awarded films and especially on the content expressed and brought to the attention of the audience in the speeches, we will have a way to say in a forthcoming final report article.

We continue here instead with the chronicle of the day.

The second part of the event was devoted to the presentation and screening of The Interview at Sea. This part was conducted by Marta Valota from Iscos (CISL’s association for international cooperation) who interviewed director Ludovico Ferro and the lead actor of the fiction part of the film Marco Manfredi.

On this occasion, both fundamental elements related to the genesis and development of the research and then hybrid documentary project that is The Interview at Sea emerged (we refer for further study to the director’s notes found here on the site in summary form and in a larger document version for download) and anecdotes and behind-the-scenes stories related to the preparation and making of the film.

The screening was attended by 200 people with a sold out.

Among the various exciting moments (which we will recount in the next article), surely the most intense was the applause given to all those who contributed in various ways to the making of the film who at the end of the screening were one by one called for the final group photo.

Thus ended one of those days bordering on perfection in terms of richness of content and emotions in which The Interview at Sea met, in this very special screening, for the first time a diverse audience and not just festival audiences.
